AVALON GOLF LEAGUE NEWS

Farrington Park Golf Club.

In light of the recent announcement by Farrington Park Golf Club, it is with the greatest regret that the Avalon  committee has made the decision to withdraw all Farrington Park teams from the league.

This decision has not been taken lightly but the reasons behind this are as follows:

  1. The announcement on the FPGC website says that there will no longer have any membership.
  2. The course will be undertaking some work leaving just 12 holes which falls short of the 18 hole course required in the constitution.

It has been decided that because it is too close to the start of the 2024 season and fixtures have already been submitted, the divisions will continue as they are with only 5 teams in divisions M1 and M7.

This situation will be corrected for the 2025 season.

We wish to offer the membership of Farrington Park our sympathy and hope they manage to find a new club to play at soon.  For those that have competed in the Avalon league our thanks for your participation and we hope to see you back paying in the league again in the future.

2023 Season Games are now complete.

Congratulations go to Brean A for winning the Men’s Section and to Stockwood Vale Seniors for winning the Seniors section

WSM B vs B&B B - 2nd July 2023

There was a special moment during this match that is worth a mention.
The game was poised at 2-2 with just the last 4 players out on the course.
WSM B player, Keith Jackson, won the game 5&4 for him and his partner Matt Cassidy by hitting a hole in one on hole 14, and so securing the win for his team!
What a way to win a match!!

2023 Mockridge Cup.

Brean A as one of the early starters had the better of the weather and came in with an excellent 45 points with 22 on the back 9 which held out for most of the day. Later on Stockwood Vale Seniors pair of Kevin Gledhill & Simon Scott came through torrential rain and very cold temperatures to come in with 45 points and 22 on the back 9.
The back 6 settled the deadlock with Stockwood Vale Seniors by 1 point with 15 to 14 . Congratulations to everyone for making it a good day and having the biggest turnout in Mockridge Cup history with 48 pairs participating. The Avalon League would like to thank Tall Pines GC for hosting the event this year.
